Friday, January 13, 2012 - Decanted for 7 hours before serving, and it lasted as part of a larger Rioja tasting for another 3 hours. Definitely needs a lot of time to open. Even after ten hours, it's obvious this wine's best days are still ahead. The dill profile that others have noted is clear on the nose, but not in the palate. The cherry/vanilla flavors are there on the palate, along with some soy, asian spice and earth notes. Acidity was noteworthy but not overpowering. I'd expect some of the spice profile to become more noteworthy as this ages. This has a more understated and complex flavor profile than most Gran Reservas I've tried, and I look forward to trying another bottle in a few years.
