90 Points

Friday, June 21, 2013 - I have now had 6 or more bottles of this wine. Overall, I don't think the wine has varied much, except for one bottle. However, I think my impression of it has in light of comparing it to other Rioja's consumed over the past couple of years. The Vin Ardanza has very bright fruit and a beautiful sweetness that is persistent, but not over the top. There are hints of cherry and strawberry, as always. This is a Rioja in a more modern style than some. It is a little more simple and straightforward. It is very easy to drink or sip, but does not cause much contemplation like Rioja's in the older style, where the influence of the terroir, the barrique, and the winemaker stands out more. This wine is really great as a first course, but I guess my tastes are developing in a direction where I am looking for more complexity in the main course.

    6/24/2013 4:27:00 AM - Hi there Up4wine,
I really agreed with your tn comments
This is a delicious, easy drink Rioja, almost ready at this point for what it is.
Rioja Alta has better and more complex examples that will last many years from now. Anyway, I think this Ardanza will be an authentic beauty in a few years. Prettier, had to say.
    Cheers,
