Tuesday, December 22, 2015 - Light reddish orange in color with a watery rim. The aroma is intense with notes of red fruits, creamy vanilla oak, tobacco and dried herbs. The impression on the palate is medium-bodied, dryish with flavors of pomegranates, underripe cherries, cranberries, creamy oak, dried autumn leaves, damp earth, fennel, tobacco and some underlying leather. The creamy vanilla oak component dominates and persists long after the finish. This Reserva Especial is a nuanced wine to say the least and smooth to a certain extent though not fully resolved. Perhaps I should have waited for another 3 – 5 years. A very decent price for a very monumental wine.
