Saturday, October 23, 2021 - This made for a very interesting blind tasting experience indeed. The truffley sauvage notes, rich textures, and smooth tannins brought me straight to Pomerol and I guessed Trotanoy! Not my finest showing. But it does made you wonder what the Moueix “stamp” is - is it pure coincidence that my guess was another Moueix property? And the influence of the French in Napa is fascinating - I admit equivocation between right bank and left at the outset, but somewhere in Bordeaux seemed to be the obvious starting point. Regardless of all the interesting questions this raises, it’s a very fine bottle of wine that was great fun to drink and is likely at its apogee now. This began to fade after 2 hours in the decanter.
