88 Points

Thursday, April 19, 2012 - White Burgundy tasting @ (Rotterdam, Netherlands): The first blind wine of the day has a lightly intense lemon yellow core with a green tinge. The nose gives off medium-minus intense impressions of slightly riper citrus fruits over a substantial mineral base. I spot a medium-plus body, followed up by initially very well-buffered pronounced acidity, which gives oodles of lift to medium intense flavours of white peach and orange grapefruit. Here too, we have excellent mineral expression and the whole package is delivered in a reasonably balanced way on the 15-20 second finish. There was consensus all around on this being a Bourgogne Chardonnay from a good producer, but I incorrectly called the vintage as being 2010 while it really was Bourgogne Chardonnay 2009 – Domaine Roulot This bottle was much leaner than my last one, which I drained a month earlier. Still, 88 points are well deserved and when the relative richness I found on my now sadly defunct half case resurfaces in a few years, a point upside seems very likely......... TN Mike de Lange
