Friday, April 17, 2015 - Served at cellar temp, this wine is just scrumptious now. While I do not agree that it leans toward Gevrey in style, it does show some up front cherry and strawberry notes, tones which never fade but are joined later by earthy, smoke, oak and a hint of tannic briar. The Chambolle rounded dark fruit center is alive and present too. We all would like 30 year old grand crus, but it is tough to resist the pinot magic and early breeding of this wine. No decanting needed.
