94 Points

NOSE: DAY 1: rich candied cherry aroma; deep and resonant earthy note in the background; slight hint of pleasurable funk – horse tacking; about 90 min. in the Nose is more tart than upon opening. DAY 2: expressive rhubarb/cherry; floral soap; no funkiness; complex. DAY 3: “darker” now than previous two days.

BODY: medium-light to medium bodied; garnet-violet color of medium to medium-deep depth.

TASTE: DAY 1: initially: really weird off flavor – oak?; non-descript fruits; some mineral; slight funk; what is going on with this??? 90 min in: same thing; I’m putting the cork back in this and leaving it for tomorrow. DAY 2: lots of mineral; deep cherry and red currant; has definitely opened up over the last 24 hours, but is still obviously holding back; very well-balanced; fine, moderately drying tannins; good acidity; moderate to moderate+ fruit concentration; 13.5% alc. not noticeable; fruit is slightly bitter; moderate oak; mineral-laden palate; needs lots of time. DAY 3: still holding back, as on Day 2, and not quite as vibrant/complex as Day 2. Absolutely must not open bottles of this wine right now.

B: 50, 5, 14, 16, 9 = 94+
