90 Points

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - Mahogany colour with very faded rim. Very faint bouquet, if at all then musty cedar. Beguiling taste of a smidgen of dark fruit, cinnamon, spice, earth with a surprisingly long finish. Cedar notes emerging throughout. Was at its peak after about 30 minutes and for another 30 minutes, before some more gravely tones took over and the depth started fading. While this wine is very much fading, it is drinking to such an extraordinary level after nearly 70 years I salute both Ch Talbot for making such an amazing wine and those who stored this before me. While not the most profound wine, still such a level of complexity and drinkability to make for a sublime experience.
