Tuesday, July 27, 2021 - I have always found Rhys chardonnays, including this one, very oaky. Rhys’s website expresses a goal of low oak influence, but I figure that was a recent change of philosophy, because this wine cannot be seen as having low oak influence. I find the combination of strong oak and restrained fruit distinctive. While I don’t necessarily prefer the oak, I don’t hate it. Anyway, I digress. This wine tastes fresh and young, with great acidity, so it still seems eminently ageworthy.
