Friday, June 16, 2017 - My last '09 FF, which was not brett afflicted. I had good luck in that department as 3 out of my 4 bottles were clean. This one exhibited a prominent strawberry candy note from the get-go with some complementary earth, smoky leaves and cedar notes. On day 2, this had a trace of heat showing. At 13.4% abv, that was a surprise, though maybe not given it's an '09 wine. Also, flavor profile was less candied with cherry and tea added to the mix. Overall, another Rhys I preferred much more in its youth, so I'm glad I opened this sooner rather than later. It made a nice pairing with mushroom ravioli, so I did enjoy it well enough. But, prefer not to drink pinot with candied fruit flavors.
