Sunday, June 1, 2014 - PnP around 5:00 to make grill lighting that much more ceremonial. Off the pop, huge ripe black cherry fruit bomb. Silky and pure, but nothing much really going on. Finishing second glass now a little before 8:00, and it's a remarkably improved/complete wine. Makes me think that even though it's near/in a peak zone, a decline is at least a few years off.
Now smelling/tasting: cherry pie, kirsch, overripe/mealy summer tomato in vinaigrette, Starbucks caffe mocha, roasted herb, and toasty oak. Absolutely delicious, and continuing to evolve in the glass. Finishes a tad short and hot, and the slightest bit thin around the edges; otherwise would drink close to its SRP.
