Tuesday, February 15, 2011 - Medium to light yellow in the glass, the nose on this grocery-store wine is typical California chardonnay: apples and stewed pears, primarily, with a bit of a floral aspect and just a touch of caramel. On the palate, fairly light flavors that pretty much exactly mirror the nose. A touch of petrol is added at the end, and the finish is surprisingly long. There's oak here, but it is fairly restrained for California, and there is solid acidity to make this a decent food wine. Nevertheless, this isn't especially complex or interesting. The best part is the price point. For $10, you get pretty much a typical, simple, average wine. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing to write home about, either.
