Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - Medium ruby colour. Big barnyard and tobacco nose. Super ripe cherry and raspberry brought sweetness and helped to balance the predominant flavours of barnyard, tobacco leaves, spice and pepper. A little low on the acidity with a relatively short finish. This was bigger than I expected, and more masculine than many new world pinots. But here's the thing: even though all the prerequisite pieces were in place, and it was nicely balanced, it was missing the pinot magic. Kind of like an android: it acts like a human, but it isn't human - it's missing something that's hard to define. Still, a solid QPR, and a good everyday drinker.
