Wednesday, April 24, 2013 - This is a Stellenbosch Bordeaux blend, and I believe one of my first (I've never drank from this winery before). I popped and poured this straight into the glass.
The nose on this wine is bold, with pungent aromas of smoke, meat, and ripened berries. After a few minutes of airing in the glass, I took the first sip – more smoke and dark fruit. The finish on this wine is hiding in every corner of my mouth several minutes afterwards.
After a few sips, I’m noticing some medium tannins. This wine is nice to sip and likely would go well with smoked meats, steak, and assorted other beef and meat. Based on the structure, I’d say this would cellar for many more years, but is very enjoyable now. Strongly recommend, great QPR. VERY GOOD.
