Monday, November 14, 2016 - The oak is so strong on the nose of this wine, it's got a big whack of vanilla and oak that takes a bit of work to get through on the nose. Some ashy aroma, dark, baked cherries, blackberries. On the palate starts off with nice dark fruit, dried cranberries. It ends with a tart edge, ok acid and firm, somewhat gritty tannin. This bottle is not in a great place right now. It's a bit hollow in the mid-palate, lacks finish, and is overall pretty meh. Decent weekday wine. Purchased for $20 at costco on release and properly stored, I don't feel it was a bad purchase but I'm glad I don't have any more.
