89 Points

Saturday, August 5, 2006 - The color is a dark garnet red with even concentration and good clarity. The nose is a little reticent with notes of light smoke, blackberry, and cedar. Blackberry and other fruit carries over from the nose to the palate. Tannins are soft. Good level of acidity. Nicely balanced structure. Medium weight body. The finish is medium length and is moderately complex. On the second day in the decanter, I pick up a touch of oxidation and a light oak / vanilla component on the nose. Better the first day but still drinkable on the second. 50 + 4 + 11 + 15 + 8. Add a plus after the 89
