Sunday, August 12, 2018 - Pop and pour thoughts: Dark purple. Dark fruit nose with pencil lead. Smells hefty. Nose isn't giving away too many secrets. Texture is incredibly silky and plush, bordering on some syrup. Big powerful wine; not brooding, but wanting to show itself. Not overwhelmed by the tannic structure on the first gulp. Notes of cocoa permeate the palate along with spiced blackberries and perfectly ripe blueberry. Above average length.

Decanted for 2-3 hours: Little bit of air and a lovely floral scent comes out. Licorice and smoke too. Good vibrancy on the palate. It walks a nice line of having a soft feel but also have plenty of edge.
