Friday, October 14, 2011 - Ripe, dark berry tones dominate the nose, with black plum and black stone coming through strongly as well. Mixed floral tones and an interesting note of blood orange combine with a subtle spiciness and a faint minerality in the background.

The palate is ripe, soft, and smooth. Dense notes of black plum, stone, and black leather come through initially, introducing notes of black pepper and kitchen spices as this wine moves toward the finish. This is a very nicely balanced wine, with subtle acidity and a gently restraining tannin structure. Well done, versatile and easy to match with a variety of dishes, this is a solid representation of the varietal.
