Friday, March 17, 2017 - This showed its ambition 2 years ago, with big, dense body and a lot of oak out of balance. It has now absorbed the oak quite well and the result is a dark, brooding, almost smoky version, with low tone berry fruit and earthy, savory details. Once the palate is trained to not expect the higher tone cherry and berry fruit one would expect, this is really quite satisfying and shows some real class, depth and pedigree. (The 2012 is very similar in style.)
