2008 Fontodi Chianti Classico

Friday, October 12, 2012 - Pretty unusual for Chianti, even Classico. A pleasing bright deep ruby hue. Tight, dense nose of leather and ripe morello cherries, complex as it evolves, somewhat musky and later even darker fruit. Full bodied and with plenty of fine tannins, the rich, warm red fruit and cherry flavours show integrated French oak. A long warm and sweet fruit finish with enough acidity to see this as a long laster. Drink now to 2016.

NB This wine should be decanted about 1 hour before serving, as it's quite tight and has fine sediment.
