95 Points

Friday, March 8, 2013 - Deep ruby red color, initially quite closed on the nose but after an hour opened right up. Intense dark fruit nose with hints of spice and earth. Initially still youthful and somewhat tannic but after an hour this wine opened to reveal that wonderful combination of great energy and elegance that for me defines great Burgundy. Over the next few hours this just got better. Clearly at the beginning of its drinking window, sure to develop further over the next decade, delicious.

---For me Leroy's VR Beaumont shows how a premier cru in the hands of a master can easily out preform many a grand cru
