Tuesday, September 17, 2013 - SB, Chard, Friulano, Malvasia and Picolit. Fascinating, rich, and complex aromas. Medium gold color. Confected tree fruits, poached pear and nectarine. Ashy and lavender. White fleshed Asian fruits. Palate is lots of candied fruit, with dried floral notes framed by a rather extracted palate. I guess that's where the deep color is coming from. Juicy tropical banana aroma. Either the extract or some barrel is in need of some aging out, as its a speed bump on the finish. All the same, excellent with great potential. Drink 2015-2025.
Day 2. Mature and salon-ish aromas. Poached pear, lavender. A lot more potpourri on the palate. Goes nicely along side of fresh roasted corn chowder, but the wine has too much complexity for this pairing. The complexity of the wine gets lost in the food. To a degree.
Day three at room temp. Wine diamonds in the bottom of my glass. These look expensive. Rich and textured white fruit. Is the Picolit just taking over? What was yesterday's maturing feel in the aroma has come all the way back and sat right in the middle of the couch, comfortably. Drink to 2025.
