Saturday, January 22, 2011 - Sampled 1/21/11. A tough year for Napa, but Ric managed to salvage a pretty good wine from it. Bought at the winery on a random visit with Ric. The wine's color is a nice rich old mine garnet. The wine has nice vanilla notes mixed in with blackberries, black currant and some leather and tobacco. Nothing green like so many '03s, but there were a few astringent notes and the tannins still have a little chunkiness to them. Not sure if this wine will improve much if at all, but it will certainly hold for another 4+ years, so I'll wait on my others.
