Sunday, March 22, 2020 - Vibrant golden yellow in colour with a tint of copper. Aromas of honeyed ripe apples, touch of lemon, splash of ocean mist.
There is some density to the mouthfeel. Ripe to slightly bruised (but not oxidized) apples and pears. The wine is dry, but not extra dry, with splashes of honey (but not cloying and definitely not approaching syrupy) to go along with the slight tanginess. Acidity is waning a bit though and the wine has lost its freshness feeling. But still a nice intensity and thickness and overall balance. A richness to the overall intensity of the wine. There is a nice herbal and mineral element that kicks in on the mid palate and continues to the finish. Nice length on the finish as well. This is a good wine to contemplate on by itself. It just seems to be missing a bit of something …. Maybe some extra fruit would have been nice. Fruit wise, it seems a bit one dimensional with the apples and pears, although with some air you can get wisps of ripe peach juice.
