Sunday, December 8, 2013 - Had this last night at SPQR and it was outstanding. Initial funk on the nose and even in the initial taste but the sommelier assured us it would blow off and she was right. It evolved over a couple of hours in the decanter, developing lovely dark cherry, licorice and the classic tar qualities, becoming more fragrant as the night went on. My last bottle of this and wish I had several more as this one seems like it has just reached its plateau of excellence. I saw a very negative tasting note on this wine and can only assume it is due to bottle variation.
