Thursday, January 19, 2012 - I am a huge fan of michael's wines and have owned every vintage since 1993. Is 2001 the best vintage he has ever made? Time will tell, but there is no doubt that this wine is showing great right now. Rich and very full bodied, it borders on the texture of port. A broad palate of black fruits with not a hint of anything out of balance. Wow! I left 2 inches of the bottle corked on the counter for 48 hours and it only got better. Pretty special. For the record, my top 5 vintages of KL are on no particular order 2001, 2005, 1999, 1991, & 1994.
