I had heard some grumbling that the 2009 Douro wines were too ripe and needed drinking. I can certainly say that this wine is more than fine. Beautiful black cherry and earth nose. Really inviting. Full bodied. Really expands in the mouth. Some very fine tannins and very good acidity. It matched very well with my dinner. This is a super Douro! It wasn't that expensive on release and I went a bit wild buying quite a bit. I had regretted it at one point, but I'm happy now. I put the cork back in the bottle and put the bottle in the cellar I forgot about it for several days and then I finally realized that the bottle was open! It was perfectly fine 3 days later. Really, it had changed very little. It looks like this wine will be in a good place for quite a while. Loved this! 93 points
