Tuesday, April 1, 2014 - Central Coast Trip; 3/30/2014-4/1/2014: Tasted at winery with Wes as part of 2009-2011 pinot noir vertical. Much bigger than the 2011. Powerful ripe aromas of brambly berries and spice. Cherry and pomegranate on palate. Smooth and velvety/polished in texture, with firm tannins and a long finish. This was our 2nd favorite of the vertical -- just a little too much over the top at this stage in its evolution, although I can see why the professional critics loved it. I enjoyed this far more than my wife did. Pair with fatty steak or strong cheese.
