Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - Lunch at Chateau Davyd. Drank in Grassl 1855.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs. Fine sediment towards end of bottle.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of integrated chocolate vanilla oak, sweet spice, black plums, black cherries, earthy minerality. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5% only!), plush high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of dark chocolate, cocoa bean, vanilla oak background, black plums, black cherries, peppery spice, stony rock minerlaity. Long earthy finish.
Very good quality. Quite a characterful Malbec. Significant oak signature a part of this internationally styled wine. Probably as good as it is gonna get already.
