Thursday, March 8, 2007 - Starts with a nose of dark chocolate, raspberries, tar and a balsamic edge. Great mouthfeel and texture, with dark fruits, coffee and a sweet cherry note. The finish initially was rather disjointed with significant tannin, acid and a little heat. Settled down nicely over a couple of hours with a meaty, bacon fat element emerging and that balsamic charactistic fading. The finish also smoothed out though it remained rather tannic. Needs another 2-3 years.
