Monday, April 27, 2015 - PnP'd, followed over the next six hours, then finished off the next day. Moderately expressive nose of blueberries, Ovaltine, and a faint, sweet herbal note I couldn't pinpoint, almost like some European herbal digestif (Jaegermeister even), though subtle and inoffensive. The wine was delightfully silken on the palate, relatively light and well-balanced considering this is 15.9% ABV full-throttled zin-syrah-pet-mourvedre Paso blend, though the alcohol did impart a sense of sweetness that some would not enjoy. Dark berry and cherry flavors were more prominent on the palate. Decent acidity, noticeable tannins and much extract make me think this will go at least another 5 years. On the other hand, I actually enjoyed it more on day 1 than day 2, so it is clearly open for business.
