Rather than Rockpile, it brought to mind The Rolling Stones' "Black and Blue"--a fresh nose of blue fruit leading to the Spinal Tap-like mouthfeel ("How much more black can this be? None. None more black"). Gotta love that 19% Petite Sirah. Decent acidity and dark fruit attack on the front end, with a bit of anise on the very back that I don't recall catching when I first tasted this last October. I'm still tasting it as I type this. It's a wine that'll drink well for years, but why wait?
