95 Points

Tuesday, July 3, 2012 - This deep-to-opaque ruby wine was kindly provided by Ken J. It was decanted and serially tasted over approximately two hours. The nose continued to evolve during this time frame, showing aromas of cassis, minerals, potpourri and vanilla. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, big sweet tannins, well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.7%) and black fruit/mineral flavors. The middle palate is solid and the mouth texture is silky. Long, smooth finish. This is a beautiful example of Napa Cabernet which, while drinking well already, will likely pick up complexity with some additional bottle ageing. It may ultimately warrant a higher score. Drink now-12/25.
