2008 Storrs Petite Sirah

Saturday, October 29, 2022 - This is showing well and the CellarTracker! suggested drinking window ending in 2015 was pessimistic. Jason Brandt Lewis suggested this on Chowhound (RIP Chowhound) as an example of a restrained petite sirah. I checked with a Santa Cruz Mountains vineyard owner to see if Storrs got much smoke. It didn’t, so I bought two bottles from K&L Wines and promptly forgot about them. I decided to bring one to a get together to match with Glenn’s London boril.
Robert Parker described petite sirah as a grape that ages well and that proved correct here. And it wasn’t an in-your-face Rhone. Dark fruits on the nose. Dark fruits again on the palate, nice acidity, maybe a little bit of tobacco. Smooth from the attack through the mid palate and a above average finish. Zach noted that it could pass for a 2018. This was a food-friendly wine.
