Saturday, December 22, 2018 - CES 50th Anniversary Dinner: Opened 8 hours before drinking. Mid neck fill. Cork removed in perfect condition with waiter's corkscrew; stained about 1/3 the way up.
Aromas of milk chocolate, fig, and spice. All of these follow onto the palate, along with a searing orange-lemon acidity. Some enjoyed this wine more than others, but all now have a somewhat better understanding of how the writers of the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, sustained themselves, and drew inspiration.
Have no idea how long it will last, but I do agree with Sprinter60 when s/he writes: "This should be enjoyed in small glasses with a friend who, like you, was alive in 1968 and remembers the drama and tragedy of the times. This is what aged wine should be -- an evocation of memory and a delight of present senses."
