94 Points

Thursday, August 7, 2014 - At the winery: Fresh, intense nose, butter, pear, baking spices, baked apple; rich, super fine, wieghty but very light and ethereal at the same time with a great high-toned intensity buoyed by lots of acidity. Rounder, more generous than the 2000. Am not a fan of '03 Champagnes, but this clearly in an exception. Krug did an amazing job with this vintage by sourcing grapes from only the coolest vintages and managing the vineyards well. So good I just bought 3. Maybe it won't go 20 years (I don't really care, and possibly it will) but for pure pleasure this takes the cake so to speak.
