Sunday, December 17, 2017 - Still needing a lengthy decant time, it still has lots of room for evolvement. A wonderfully deep nose of blackcurrent and dark cherry gives off heady aromas. The fruit is dominant on the palate whilst balanced by robust tannin. The depth is tremendous, but on this tasting I found the finish a little clipped. Even at 13.5% alcohol content, this is a wine for decades but fabulous now as long as it is well aerated, and probably with the 1990 the best Pichon Baron drinking at present.
