Monday, January 19, 2015 - A surprisingy approachable true Volnay from a producer that appears to have rebuilt a once rocky reputation. Rich in its primary corps, displaying a beautiful garnet and cherry red color in the glass, with a warm, restrained nose-- some cherry,strawberry, mushroom scents. The palate was approaching a serious Volnay roundness and some lushness, with deeper black cherry, earthy periphery, some strawberry that may be youth, and a nice finish. But oddly, no doubt in part because of age, the wine seemd to stop short at 3/4 and did not leave a fully satisfying sense of follow through.
