Monday, October 5, 2015 - PnP with tightly coiled but layered notes of electric and lively purple, black, and ripe red berries, blackberry, dark plum, dark raspberry, asphalt, charcoal, and cool, wet granite. Some nuances of earth and spice, but more dominant with the purple fruits, stone, and asphalt/tar notes.

Just what I want from a Petite Sirah. Bob Foley does it right with his own namesake label as well as with Switchback Ridge Petites. As noted by others, the Muscleman is still a baby as a 2006, but drinking well nonetheless. Has a decade+ of life ahead of it, but I would consider now to be the beginning of its prime drinking window. After a decant for a total of 2 hours, this was drinking great. Never muddled; never too heavy. Instead, it is full of rich power without the sharp edges.

If you open now, give it an hour or two to fully unwind in a decanter at cellar temperature. Went great with sausage and mushroom lasagna with homemade pasta. I continue to prefer Foley's Muscleman over the Pepperland PSs, especially in 2006.
