Sunday, October 23, 2011 - Very dark, almost black color that is almost completely opaque. Big and bold nose with prunes, dark fruit jam and liquorice. On the palate spice and dark fruits , but definitely not as ripe and massive as the nose led to expect. Big, fruity Grenache flavors supported by robust structure of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Quite fullbodied. Some hints of sweet, wooden oak and minerality, which are more prominent in the lengthy, toasty and spicy finish. Very tannic. Could use either +5 years in a cellar or lengthy carafage with some hearty food. However, the wine is quite approachable already and the aging is really not mandatory. Overall this is a very big, elegant and harmonius red from the South of France. Definitely worth the price at 17,50€.
