Monday, January 16, 2012 - pop n pour. some bottle funk and a plastic odor on opening which dissipated after about 5-10 minutes. after that, the nose was not very expressive but the wine is bursting with bright red fruit on the palate. the wine's color is on the pink/red side of purple and, visually, it is unusually thin & transparent for a cab franc. in the mouth this wine has medium body and a medium length finish with the sour fruit more prominent on the finish than the cab franc pepper. quite drinkable, but based on this it's no surprise that randy did not see fit to produce a "red silk" bottling in this vintage.
