Saturday, October 11, 2014 - Happy to find a decently aged Nebbiolo on a shelf for a low price. This one has a pale, ruddy color, and right out of the bottle the nose is all tart red berries and mint leading to some really wonderful tertiary aromas, particularly truffle, once it got some air. For 29 bucks I'd say this was a wonderful opportunity to see what a bit of age can do to a proper Nebbiolo.

On the palate the acidity was still quite fresh, but softened quickly with a gentle finish. Somewhat straightforward palate of red cherry and menthol, but lovely nonetheless. I wouldn't wait long on this vintage.

10/28/2014 2:04:00 PM - Nice note. BTW, the '05 I had at the winery in April is in top form, now and for the next decade. Still quite fresh; excellent typicity, sapid, with fine structure. Definitely worth a flier.
