Thursday, March 14, 2013 - Chianti Classico tasting- the black rooster crows at the dawn of a new age (Allerton Hotel, Chicago IL): Nose: Nice and easy nose with tones of red fruits, cherries, berries, red currants, and some herbs. There is nice complexity, but it is lacking depth.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. There are supporting tannins with tones of red fruits, cherries, and herbs. The mid-palate is slightly lacking and is thinner.
Overall: This is a nice chianti. It is balanced, though it is lacking some depth but would work as a good food wine.
