90 Points

Wednesday, January 5, 2011 - Pop and poured. Cork soaked all the way up with a bit of mold on top, but came out in basically one piece. Bricking but still dark and pretty opaque color. At first, this medium bodied wine was harsh and dominated by acidity and metallic/bitterness on the finish (but no tannins). But with a couple of hours of air, it mellowed out significantly revealing soft red fruit (but seems to be drying out), hints of earth, leather, tobacco. Very smooth, subdued and elegant, with nice juicy acidity on the finish. It was very enjoyable experience but it wasn't quite the wine I was hoping it'd be.
