Tuesday, July 30, 2013 - Rotating Dinner Series- 70s and 80s California Cabernets (Chris' place, Highland Park IL): Nose: The nose is like a cross between a cabernet and a cornas with wild and feral tones striking right off the bat along with leather, black fruits, spices, black cherries, and cedar tones. There is very good depth with a robust quality as well.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium acidity and some nice tannins. The feral tones continue along with a gameyness and tones of leather, black fruits, black cherries, earth, and some incense that emerges with a bit more air.
Overall: This was a very unique and exciting Dominus. The profile wasn't traditionally californian or what I'm used to from Dominus, but that's what made it fun.
