Saturday, May 13, 2006 - Deep, perfect bull's blood with lots of bricking. On the nose, I instantly would have thought this to be Lynch Bages -- it had a quintessential Pauillac nose; huge licorice, shitake mushroom, and a bit of tobacco; no cedar, a whiff of bell pepper, and plenty of soy sauce. Wow! What a fabulous nose. But definitely big, with a little heat, and no subtlety. The palate was huge, velvety, v v rich and definitely full-bodied. This wine is an instruction in Cali Cab, and though perhaps a little monolithic and unsubtle, is a real wow! wine. Nice long finish, though again rather monolithic. The texture and power, overall, really left me shaking my head with awe. A *great* wine. (Decanted 2 hours prior to consumption. I bought this sometime around 1991 or so).
