Saturday, January 20, 2018 - From a nice looking bottle with a bottom neck fill, this wine had a red/purple center and some orange at the rim. The medium+ intensity nose was angular and awkward at first with an excess of coffee notes. However, after an hour of air the wine started coming around. After 3+ hours it put forth black cherries, blueberries, tan spices, coffee, and some roasted meat.

Again, at first, this was a bit thin and awkward in the mouth. It always had a smooth texture but the fruit was hiding and was outweighed by the structure. As it aired, the fruit emerged to balance things out. It had a very nice finish.

This wine, and this bottle in particular, still seem young. It is quite nice now but will probably benefit from another 5-10 years in the cellar. Impressive!
