Monday, March 14, 2011 - Dark garnet core with slightly matte/rusty rim. At first very warm soil and meat driven aromatics with a somewhat lithe/closed palate. With air. Big warmed raspberry fruit that leaned toward baked but never became cooked in character. Herbs, sweet game and meat, more fresh soil and potpouri. Fantastic aromatics, not a hint of booze either (14.5%). Palate repeated nose with sweet fruit that never became stewy but pranced on the precipicee of profuse all night. Comfortably oppulent. Huge, mouthfilling, yet perfectly balanced with medium acidity and fine, well integrated tannins. Long. Outstanding. Had next to 2000 Bologna Ai Suma Barbera which seemed a tad try hard. Lamb Shanks were at home here. Really enjoyable wine. Lots of life ahead of it.
