Saturday, April 27, 2013 - Three years have passed since the light of the cellar ceiling fell on this bottle. But with a little offline with the Pat and Charlie Chadwick lined up at a local restaurant, it was time to consider this as a possibility. A blend of Grenache Noir (65%), Mourvèdre (15%), Syrah (15%) and with touches of Cinsault, Clairette and sundry others (5%) filling out the wine. Early on iodine dominates the nose, but eventually blackberry and the classic cigar ash nose from the Grenache are teased out. The earthy smokiness with smoked meats kick in with more air time. The rim color shows brick while the core shades to cordovan. Fine grains of sediment in the final 6th of the bottle. 14% alc. With hanger steak (me) pork shank (Charlie). this shows well, but slips just a tad short, scoring only “ Recommended.”
