Thursday, June 23, 2022 - I do not want to offend any Rousseau fans but this Mazy-Chambertin is nothing but super average. And given the vintage is has no excuse but to be great. I paid 90 bucks for this bottle back than, which now apparently goes for 1300 plus. That is, in one word, "obscene". This wine is so average, it is flat out boring, standard pinot noir. It would be completely outshone by a wine like Bachelet Les Evocelles 2013 at one tenth of the price. It feels like Rousseau has two leagues, the Le Chambertin, the Clos de Beze and maybe sometimes the Ruchottes and then everything else. I dont think I have ever been so disappointed by a wine of this stature. Given the price, forget this wine altogether.
